This is certainly the most interesting match in the eighth round of Italian Series B, because it is played between two teams that not so long ago represented their country in European competitions. However, Palermo was only eliminated last year from the elite rank, while Parma has recovered quickly after bankruptcy and came back to only one step away from Series A. Otherwise, Palermo is currently better on the table, while we also need to that their last two matches ended with a victory of the host.
But that was three years ago in the elite rank of Italian football, so in the meantime, a lot has changed in both teams. However, Palermo was just eliminated from Series B last summer and it is quite clear that they intend to expressly return to the top, which is again confirmed by their very good performances at the start of the season. Namely, they are the only team without a defeat in Series B, with the addition of three wins and four draws, and therefore they at this point have one point less than the leading Frosinone.
However, what gives optimism to their fans before this match with their old rivals from Parma is the fact that they in the last two matches at home celebrated over Perugio and Pro Vercellia, and then played a draw with Ascoli away. But on the other hand, coach Tedino is faced with numerous absences, given that defensive players Struna and Cionek, midfielders Jajalo and Chochev, as well as strikers Nestorovski and Trajkovski, are currently having obligations with their national team.
As for the guests from Parma, we have already said in the introduction that they only three seasons’ ago played in the elite rank of Italian football, but then, after bankruptcy, they were transferred directly to Series D and many thought they would need a lot of time to consolidate their ranks. However, they have returned to Series B in two years, where they are doing great and it would be no wonder to see them again in the highest ranking in the near future.
And it is not excluded that this happens already at the end of this season, because they currently have only four points less than the leading Frosinone, although they have recently experienced three defeats in a row. But they also made two consecutive wins at the start, while they in the last two rounds celebrated against Venezia away and played a draw with Salernitana at home, despite the fact that they earned two suspensions. And precisely for this reason, defenders Iacoponia and Di Cesarea will not be in the team, while the injured striker Ceravolo is still out of action.
We have already mentioned in our analysis that Palermo is currently the only team without any defeats in the league, so it is quite logical that they apply for a slight favourite in this domestic match with their old rival Parmo.
