Legion Tallinn hosts Levadia in round 2 of Estonian Meistriliiga. The match will be played on Tuesday, May 19th at Kadriorg Stadium (Tallinn).
Last year’s champion, FC Flora, examined Legion in the first round of the current season. The game took place on the champion’s pitch, and the absolute debutant of Meistriliiga certainly lost but offered battle to the favorite. A 3:1 defeat is not an offensive away result since Flora is one of the main contenders for the title in the Estonian championship.
Levadia won silver last season. Moreover, the backlog from the champion was -12 points, but Levadia outranked Kalju by only one point. The visitors are a scoring team – it scored 98 goals last year, but the defense cannot be called reliable (32 goals conceded in 36 rounds last year). Moreover, 17 goals were conceded in away matches. The White-greens started this season with a modest home 1-0 victory over Kuressaare - a team that is likely to fight for survival in the elite just like last year.
I decided that there was no point in looking for something unusual in this match. We have two teams with super-attacking potential - see the statistics of goals scored by both teams. The favorite (Levadia) is simply obliged to score a goal against the debutant even in the away game, and Legion Tallinn can and must score at home (it managed to score last year’s champion, who conceded the least in the elite division). As a result, we have a very promising bet – “Both teams to score – yes”. By the way, taking into account the cup matches of last year, Levadia played with such an outcome in 15 of 20 away games (this is the last argument in favor of this particular bet).
