Las Palmas hosts Lugo in round 32 of Spanish LaLiga 2. The match will be played on Thursday, April 1st at Estadio de Gran Canaria (Las Palmas).
Las Palmas tried their hand at the level of Primera in 2015-2018. Having once again lost their place in the elite, representatives of exotic islands did not even come close to showing a desire to regain their positions. First, the Canaries took 12th place, and the last Temporada ended in the 9th position. Perhaps there were hopes for further progress, but instead, the team that had sold their talent Pedri to Barcelona in the summer fell back to the lower part of the standings. Now Las Palmas has 40 points after 31 rounds. But in the last nine matches, there were five defeats, two victories, and two draws. It seems that the Canaries have already resigned themselves to the fact that there is no chance to fight for a return to La Liga at the end of the season.
Deportivo Lugo was founded in the 1950s. And the Red-Whites have never been promoted to LaLiga. But they hold on quite tightly in the second football division of the country. However, Lugo didn’t manage to rise above 9th place. Moreover, in the last couple of years, the Red-Whites had to fight for maintaining the place in the division until the very last round. This season turned out to be quite good for the team. The Red-Whites have already scored 36 points, which allows them to keep a distance from the fighters for survival. But the last victory dates back to January 23, when the Clockwork Game managed to beat Tenerife. After that Lugo either lost its form or relaxed too early. The winless streak has clearly run over and amounts to nine games in a row. March began with three draws, but last Sunday Lugo managed to lose at home to Sabadell which is located in the relegation zone.
Las Palmas has only recently learned to play successfully against Lugo. If the first seven head-to-head meetings ended with only one victory for the Canaries and four wins for the opponent, then in 2019-2020 there were already three victories of Las Palmas and a 1-1 draw at Anxo Carro in December. Both clubs are not in their best shape at the moment. A goalless draw will not come as a surprise, but we offer to bet on Under 2.5 goals scored.
