Both teams are positioned in the bottom half of table but neither is actually endangered regarding survival. Parma stands one place higher than Bologna and has one point more, while before this round Bologna had five points more than teams in the drop zone. Bologna lost in the previous round after four-game unbeaten streak, while Parma drew five consecutive matches. The two teams played a goalless draw in the first part of season.
Bologna is still not fully safe in terms of relegation but it shouldn’t be a problem, especially if they play like they did recently. They had four-game unbeaten streak out of which they won three matches and that brought so much needed peace of mind in the finish of season. In the previous round the positive series was interrupted as they lost to Milan away. They didn’t play badly and could have pulled a draw but nevertheless they lost by 2-1.
After they received the second goal Destro scored goal that gave them a glimmer of hope 20 minute before the end, and then they were left with a player more on the pitch but they didn’t use the chance. Dijks and N. Sansone were sent off near the end of match and the two of them cannot play now, just like Poli due to accrued yellow cars, so they are going the be weakened for this match. Therefore, manager Mihajlovic is forced to make at least three changes in the starting line-up, and perhaps he makes one or two more.
This is solid returnee season for Parma and by the end they need to verify their survival, which shouldn’t be too far. They lost steam in the finish of season and they didn’t win for more than two months. They played eight matches after winning Genoa and at the beginning of the negative series they lost matches but right now they have series of five draws. First four had ended with few or no goals, while in the previous round they played a true goal fest with Sampdoria. Parma took a lead practically with its first attack, but later on it received three goals so they were forced to save one point.
They managed thanks to Bastoni and Kucka, where the latter earned a red card in the finish of match and cannot play now. It is a handicap for Parma as Kucka also scored an equaliser two rounds ago when they drew away with Chievo 1-1. Parma should have done better in that mach given that Chievo was already relegated from the Serie A. Besides Kucka, midfielder Barilla will not play as well, as he earned the 10th yellow card. There is number of injured players, while refreshments in the team will be Siligardi, Stulac and Rigoni.
Bologna is in better shape but several important players are out of action for this match. Parma is not complete either and it seems that the team has subscribed for draws. In this case a draw suits both teams and perhaps Bologna and Parma will play more cautiously which should result in fewer goals.
