Andorra hosts Latvia in round 6 of the UEFA Nations League D. The match will be played on Tuesday, November 17th at Estadi Nacional (Andorra la Vella).
The Tricolors are one of the weakest teams in the European region. But lately Koldo's men have been achieving certain successes, as for their level. In the Euro qualification, they even managed to gain victory in the official match and outranked Moldova in the final standings. In the Nations League, the Andorrans started from a goalless draw in Latvia and repeated this success at home with Malta. Moreover, Andorrans even opened the scoring and won the first half on Saturday. But then the own goal of Emily Garcia broke the game. The Maltese took the lead very quickly and won with a 3-1 score.
11 wolves took part in the European Championship fifteen years ago. This was an exception, but the Latvian national team still had the status of a tough middle peasant. However, a chain of failures led to the fact that now the Latvians are viewed as outsiders. They gained only three points in the Euro qualification, albeit their group was difficult. But nothing changes even at the level of Division D of the Nations League. The Wolves won only against San Marino, and then in a friendly match. Yes, they lost only once (to Malta at home). But all the other meetings brought only draws, so there was no chance to fight for the leadership in the quartet. The home draw with the Faroe Islands became fatal. Experienced Vladimir Kamesh scored to the net of the Islanders in the 59th minute, but they answered literally in the next attack, so the match ended with a 1-1 score. And the Latvians won’t manage to rise above the current 3rd place.
Andorra will certainly want to end a rather successful year on a major note. However, Latvia should at least try to win. Let's risk betting on the option with Over 2.5 goals scored.
