Albania hosts Belarus in round 6 of the UEFA Nations League C. The match will be played on Wednesday, November 18th at Air Albania Stadium (Tirana).
The Eagles experienced their peak at the last Euro. Thanks to De Biasi's work, the team managed to make their way to the final part of the tournament for the first time in history. However, the Albanians failed to build on the success - in the following draws, this national team showed the already familiar status of "no more than the middle peasant". But under the leadership of Edoardo Reja, Albania is doing quite well against the background of teams of about the same level. The Eagles beat Belarus and scored four points with the Kazakhs, but only one point was earned in matches with the Lithuanians. In November, the Albanians won twice. They coped with Kosovo in a friendly game and beat Kazakhstan in the fifth round. Nevertheless, they have to play to win in the last match. Well, at least the meeting will take place at home.
The White Wings began November with the defeat to Romania in a friendly match (3-5). However, in the fifth round, Belarus managed to gain victory over neighboring Lithuania in the economy mode. Yablonsky upset Thomas Shvedkauskas already in the fifth minute, and Max Ebong scored the second goal in the middle of the half. After the 20th minute, the score did not change anymore, and Mikhail Markhel's men won 2-0. As a result, they responded well to a bad start in the form of a home defeat of Albania. And the Belarusian team even rehabilitated in some way for the defeat in the 1st round of the Euro qualification playoffs, when it lost to Georgia. Currently, the Belarusians have 10 points, that is, two more than Albania. The task for Wednesday evening is clear – in case of a draw, Belarus will keep 1st place and guarantee themselves promotion to a higher division of the tournament.
The statistics of head-to-head meetings are almost equal. It all started with the fact that the Belarusians scored 7 points in the first three matches. But then the Albanians changed the history, and after a 2-0 victory in September, it is they that have seven points in the next three games. Albania is well aware that everything will be decided in this home match. And we think it has enough strength to gain victory.
